Seismics and the City 2012

The first Seismics and the City event was held on 22 March 2012, and focused on learning from the experiences of Christchurch public and private sector organisations: their resilience, their preparedness to handle business interruption and their innovation in the wake of the quakes as they and their people recovered, re-thought what they do and how they do it, and refocused on the future.Powerful case studies from the Canterbury Earthquakes were presented to shed light on the ingredients of a resilient organisational culture, and demonstrate how adaptive people and the uptake of new technologies can accelerate the recovery process.
The event also emphasised the opportunities which accompanied catastrophic events and disruptive changes, and the on-going need to re-strategise business planning in order to prepare for the worst while planning for the best.
