FESTA 2012: LUXCITY

LUXCITY was a city built of lights that existed for one night on Saturday 20 October 2012.

Over 350 architecture and design students from across New Zealand designed and fabricated 16 installations for pop-up activities: bars, cafes, live music and performance venues and a night market. The architectural installations used light in conjunction with large-scale demolition machinery to create structures that were both ephemeral and contended with the vastness of the urban scale.

LUXCITY addressed the potential of transitional projects to stimulate collaboration, explore a range of architectural possibilities and regenerate the central city.
