Breaking Wonderful
Material relating to a Transitional Cities project, titled 'Breaking Wonderful'. The project description reads:
Constructed by a group of 16-19 year old teenagers in Christchurch, Breaking Wonderful is a piece of theatre made as reaction to the earthquake using the theme of re-birth as a spring board rather than earthquake-focused content. It is a blend of gritty realism and dream like surrealism. We are interested in investigating the arc of rebirth: what happens before, during and after a disaster. It follows three parallel stories on different points of the arc of rebirth. A story of a girl who loses her father, friends and her confidence in the way the world is run, then learns to build everything back from scratch. A boy who is stuck inside his own dreams of a better world and a group of free and joyful young people without questions and without fear who represent the golden age. These lines are pulled together by the greed of authority embodied in the fast talking King in business wear.
