Oxford Terrace Temporary Streetscape and Interpretation

Material relating to a Transitional Cities project, titled 'Oxford Terrace Temporary Streetscape and Interpretation'. The project description reads:

The Oxford Terrace streetscape project acknowledges the significance of the Avon River/Otakaro and celebrates the rich Maori cultural heritage and natural environment of the river corridor.The painted streetscape, designed by Priscilla Cowie, a visual artist of Ngai Tahu, Ngapuhi and Ngati Kahu descent, celebrates the importance of the natural ecology of the Avon River/Otakaro historically and into the future.Seating reused from the Colombo Street bus interchange adds further colour to the area.The interpretation consisted of three panels, which were developed in consultation with Ngai Tahu. The panels highlighted existing heritage, as well as recovery projects, along the Avon River/Otakaro, interpreted the Oxford Terrace streetscape artwork by Priscilla Cowie, and presented a future vision for the Avon River Park/Papa o Otakaro.
