Getting it done: Utilising women's skills in the workforce

dc.description

Between 2013 and 2015 the number of women working in trades in Canterbury more than doubled, from 4,100 in December 2013 to 8,300 in December 2015.

This is the result of the Ministry for Women's work with its Canterbury partners to encourage women to train in high growth industries and to encourage employers to hire more women to fill their skills shortages, particularly in construction and trades.

Cost sharing agreement between the Crown and the Christchurch City Council

dc.description

On 27 June 2013 a $4.8 billion cost-sharing deal between the Christchurch City Council and the Crown was announced. The agreement covered the rebuilding of Christchurch's earthquake-damaged infrastructure and key anchor projects in the central city.

The deal was a significant milestone, giving certainty to residents, developers, business and investors around funding and allowing the rebuild to ramp up.
