Cranmer Courts was critically damaged during the February 22nd quake; the subsequent emergency repair work to secure the building left large areas, including window and door frames, boarded up with plywood. These void spaces were used as the 'canvas' for Hewson's installations, resulting in the images being neatly framed by the damaged stonework".

Songs for Christchurch is a unique music-driven fundraising effort. It is a compilation album consisting of songs donated by 21 local and global artists. This musical effort towards the city's recovery was made possible through donations and all proceeds from the album go towards community projects that are focused on reconstituting Christchurch. The project had three goals: raising as much money as possible for the projects in Christchurch, promoting Christchurch and New Zealand artists to overseas audiences, and putting on a free live concert in Christchurch's CBD.
AHoriBuzz, The Nudge, Electric Wire Hustle Sound System, Jessie James and the Outlaws, and Delaney Davidson played at the launch gig. Other artists on the album include Imogen Heap, The Eastern, The Unfaithful Ways, ,Tim Finn, Flight of the Conchords, The Black Seeds, Electric Wire Hustle, Greg Johnson, Spartacus R, L.A Mitchell, Jessie James and the Outlaws, The Black Seeds, Fly My Pretties, Dear Frontier, The Nudge, Ladi6, The Yoots, Mara TK, Fat Freddys Drop and Giles McNeill.

The Scaffold Pavilion was a prototype for a means of activating and bringing life to an urban area using "transitional-city" materials (such as scaffolding, blue scaffold netting, shrinkwrap).
Through a Facebook marketing campaign/chalkboard sign-up, the experiment resulted in BBQs, various live performances, a video projection art show, SCAF PAV-lova party, street cricket matches, gangnam style dancing, and lunch breaks.
It utilized solar energy to power internal lighting, which was triggered at sunset. Once the pavilion was disassembled, all materials either went back into their previous circulation (scaffolding, stage decks, pallets, lights), were recycled (shrinkwrap), or used by SHAC in the LIVS office (netting, solar setup).

The project description reads, "Twenty-two Adelaide women have taken up crochet hooks to help refocus attention on post-earthquake Christchurch. The result is a gallery-size, giant eye artwork on display in the Colombo. Some Christchurch craft artists made a local response, and the two artworks hung together in the window of a vacant shop".
